Join Us For The 2017 Tour:
Saturday, October 28- 10am-5pm
Sunday, October 29- 11am-5pm
We’re inviting you to scenic Botetourt County, Virginia, home to many of the Valley’s leading artists. During the last weekend in October, 12 of those artists will be offering their work, while sharing their creativity, in eight unique artist’s studios.
This free, self-guided driving tour, of working artist’s studios and homes, is your chance to discover and collect finished works directly from the artists themselves. Plus, you will see works in progress, possibly catching an impromptu demonstration of the tools and techniques used to create them.
Enjoy the countryside’s fall foliage while you drive from location to location throughout the county. There are Open Studios – Botetourt signs along your way to help guide you in the right direction.
Pickup a “passport card” at your first stop on the tour, fill it out and drop it in the basket to be automatically entered in a drawing worth $150 towards an art purchase from any single tour artist*.
Visit us online at openstudiosbotetourt.com for additional information including biographies of this year’s artists.
This year artists will be providing demos as time allows or when it may help them answer specific questions (so don’t be afraid to ask questions — that’s what visiting an artist’s studio is all about).
Emerging High School Artists of Botetourt County
Art students from Lord Botetourt and James River High Schools were selected and made work on canvases provided by OSB, themed: “My Famous Self-Portrait,” self-portrait paintings in the style of Art History’s master artists. Their works are displayed in each of the studios and are for sale. The League for Animal Protection will be the recipient this year’s donation.
